The East Tennessee DX Association is a club dedicated to HF and VHF/UHF DXing, and Contesting activates.
DXing is the practice of making long distance contacts via
amateur radio equipment. HFers generally refer to DX as contacts outside of
your own country. VHFers may consider it to be contacts with new and distant
grid squares as well as other countries. DXer’s enjoy chasing DX contacts,
which will give him/her new credits for many of the popular awards such as the
ARRL DXCC and CQ Magazines WAZ or Radio Society of Great Britain’s
Contesting ranges from world-wide 48-hour events with tens of thousands of participants to smaller regional events which may be as short as 2 hours in duration. The goal of most contests is to contact as many other participants on as many amateur radio bands as possible.
If DXing and contesting interests you, you may want to consider joining the East Tennessee DX Association or at least coming to one of the meetings to learn what we are all about.
The club meets on the 3rd Monday of every month. The meetings are usually at a local restaurant and dinner is Dutch treat. We are happy to have visitors and families are always welcome. For more info check out our website at www.etdxa.org or give one of the members a call.
